A family member just confirmed all the details revealed here. I'm surprised this story did not get more National attention. All efforts were made to keep Jehovah's name out of this, I was told, and they have done a good job at that!

How can the wife not go public with this? 4 years of Sexual Abuse on your Pre-teen girl. I would be sick to the core. OMG, Where is the outrage? How can those in that Congregation look in the eyes of that family and not ask for blood? How did the Holy Spirit allow this Elder, give talks on the Convention and Circuit level for 4 years, while this Sexual Pervert committed these continuous sexual acts on an innocent child!!! At least the guy is still in jail. But no changes in JW's response to these type of things.

The disappearance of the Special Committees

as a part of the wt judicial arrangement, for many years there was a sort of review procedure called special committee; basically if a person was not happy with a decision or a particular situation they were allowed to write a letter to the society raisin their concerns.. the majority of these complaints were answered with a standard letter with the counsel of “leave matters to jehovah”.

in some instances the matter was serious enough to warrant the need for a special investigation of the case to be done by a special committee.. at one time the travelling overseers were part of this arrangement; eventually they were dropped out of these cases due to the fact of their tremendous input on the decisions and also the implications when a wrong decision was reached.. the reason behind this procedure was that in matters that were really complicated it was not fair to make a decision based in letters and the clearest way was to have “boots on the ground”.

normally a group of local brothers, appointed for this duty heard the cases and make recommendations to the branch.

It is very rare that the Appeal Committee disagrees with the original Committee, but it does happen. You tell the person some BS statement that Clarification is needed by the Branch, and we will get back with you on our decision. Then the Branch will consider both Committees findings and render a decision.

By the way, In 21 years of serving and probably serving on some 100 Hearings, never had one Appealed. We thoroughly had the facts, previous Council given, stacks of WT articles and Scriptures to that situation (Whether it applied Or not), sort of a Bully tactic because of your position.

Special Committee is very rare. We had one In our congregation in the 90's. Many of the Friends were complaining about the Elder Body, 4 out of 6 connected by Family, not respecting the Disfellowshipping arrangement when it to shunning DF'd family members. The CO called the Branch and was told to appoint 3 of the most experienced Elders of the Circuit and give them the Power to make any necessary changes to the Elder Body as they saw fit to keep the Congregation from splitting up. The result was 5 Elders deleted and 2 Elders (pure company men) brought in from other Congregations, I was one of those brought in.

3 of those 5 never served again. 1 was later DF'd himself and the other is currently Serving.

I friend from a congregation in Miami, FL(Kings Bay), said the same thing happened there around 2000.

An Appeals Committee, is appointed by the CO to hear the plea from someone who thinks an error in Jugdement was made on them being Disfellowshipped. The Appeal Committee can overturn the original Committees decision if they felt an error was made. I have served on an Appeal Committee.

Your feelings for the former travelling overseers

during our wt life we met a good number of friends involved in the circuit and district work.

i am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers.

at the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive.

Jim Crosley early 1980's in South FL was always good to me. I never gave him cash , but a Grocery Store Gift Certificate for $20 each time he came for his visit. He would always thank me for my personal interest in him and his wife.

Don Wallace- very humorous and kind

Thomas Rucker- Big Man, Big Heart, a Man's Man, very well liked in the Circuit, even punched out a Man hitting his wife!

Lou Puerini- Great communicator and Friend

John Graeff- Really liked me(because I wasn't afraid to make fun of him), but other Elders did not like his straight fowardness

Jerry Luckett- Also a very good person at heart and kind. Liked to hang with the friends and play sports.

Kenneth Williams- Okay, but did not like confrontation and a backbone to set matters right!

Stanley Jones- Okay, not a serious person

Darrell Pickens- Total Dick, Self Righteous, Arrogant, thought that many of the Friends were Prejudice.

doctrines projected by wt writers can be compared to the slides in the old carousel slide shows, the jw audience was kept in the dark, but the next images' bright filtered new light had their rapt attention.

often these doctrine images came around again but modified, often totally changed, turned upside down.

my mother told me that “the end” was coming very soon.

so at the encouragement of mother and many others in the congregation i was baptized in january 1967 and started full time ministry as “pioneer” in may of 1968.. in fact she told me when i was younger that i would never even get out of high school before “the end” would come.

i registered in the board and i wanted to present myself.. i used to visit this forum some time ago and even register an account but then i tried to convince myself all was ok in the congregation.

now, i'm coming back :).

i live in a southern european nation, i'm a young jw, a good example in the congregation serving as a regular pioneer and ms. for all in the congregation i'm the good guy, one of the best examples in the area i live.

Been in for over 35 years now and held every position that can be achieved by a male in this Organization. My wife and I have a combined 38 years of Regular Pioneering. We have believed from day one(1981) and were repeatedly told by The Organization, Convention & Assembly Talks, CO visits, etc., That the " Great Tribulation" will begin anytime now! And when I turned 50, I realized that if it doesn't come, I could become just like some of our Elders, that didn't plan for retirement, like me, would still need to have a job in old age, just to make ends meet!

Thank God, for this forum that helped me to wake up, both of us now in our 50's, got a job with benefits, will in 15 years, when I turn 65, qualify for partial retirement benefits, better than just trying to live on Social Security alone!

Many witnesses did it right. They were balanced, ignored some of "End Time Talks", worked untill they retired with benefits! Some, that had some energy left, entered the full time Pioneer ranks while retired.

I know of one couple who regular pioneered(him also an Elder the whole time), for most of their Adult Life, hit 62 and found that they only qualified only to $800 in SSI benefits per month! They were crushed! Had to quit Pioneering, stay working in a Cleaning business, only for the Brother's legs give out at 65, disabled now, living in Government housing, on Food Stamps and dependent on public transportation to get around. Some life now!

one thing they never talked about at the assemblies was how many predictions they made in the pass about the so called end of the world.

predictions that never came to be.

i didn’t know it at the time and most jehovah’s witnesses didn’t know that charles russell (1852-1916), the founder, believed that christ had secretly arrived in the year 1874 and that he would establish the kingdom of god on earth in october 1914 russell based this prophecy on his studies of the bible and the great pyramid.
